Employers
Apprenticeships are an exciting option for skills and career development for both the apprentice and their employer. As an employer, you can hire someone new or upskill an existing employee regardless of length of service or age. You can employ/upskill apprentices at different levels, whether that's school leavers or university graduates to people who want to further their careers or change career direction completely. Apprenticeships are a cost-effective method of training, whether your organisation is a levy payer or not. As much as 95% of the course funding, could be covered and we can help you access this funding if your business and employees are eligible.
Hiring an Apprentice
Hiring an apprentice is an effective means of cultivating a skilled and motivated workforce. Apprenticeships provide individuals with hands-on experience while learning the nuances of a specific trade or profession. Employers benefit from this arrangement by gaining access to fresh talent, often with a willingness to learn and adapt. Apprenticeships foster a culture of mentorship, where seasoned professionals guide and impart their knowledge to the next generation of workers. This symbiotic relationship not only addresses skill gaps within the company but also contributes to the overall growth and sustainability of both the business and the workforce. By using apprenticeships, this can be a valuable part of a business’s succession planning and workforce development strategy, especially in a challenging recruitment market.
Upskilling Existing Employees
Upskilling existing employees is a crucial strategy for organisations seeking to adapt to evolving industry demands. By providing targeted training and development opportunities, employers can enhance the skills of their workforce, ensuring they remain competitive and adept at handling new technologies and methodologies. This proactive approach not only fosters employee satisfaction but also cultivates a culture of continuous learning within the company. Additionally, upskilling can lead to increased productivity, innovation, and employee retention, contributing to the overall success and resilience of the organisation in a rapidly changing business landscape.
The Apprenticeship Levy
The apprenticeship levy requires all employers operating in the UK, with a payroll of over £3 million each year, to invest in apprenticeships a minimum of 0.5% of that payroll figure. You can benefit from this investment by upskilling your current workforce or hiring new apprentices.
If you’re a non-levy payer (an employer operating in the UK, with a pay bill of less than £3 million each year) you are entitled to funding of up to 95% of an apprenticeship (and sometimes, this can be 100% depending on eligibility).
